Truro Music Week

Music Truro’s packed week of events has been declared an overwhelming success and organisers are already looking ahead to next year. The music festival, funded by Totally Truro Business Improvement District, featured more than 70 gigs, concerts, workshops and performances at a range of venues across the city. BID manager Neil Scott said: “I’m delighted with the response and feedback we’ve had. Many people were surprised at the sheer breadth of music we had on offer. “We already have lots of people keen to get involved in future festivals and will be meeting in October to look at what went well and how we could do things even better.” Successful events included a meeting to kick start Cornwall Music Industry Forum last Wednesday (September 24) at Lemon Street Market. Around 50 music moguls got together to discuss the county’s industry, how to progress and access support or funding. Truro’s streets also came alive with a busking competition which saw musicians take part in three days of heats before a final on Thursday (September 25). Prizes for first and second place plus a special award for the People’s Busker will be presented on John Peel Day, Thursday, October 9, at Bunters. Claire Drakeley of Event Cornwall, who co-ordinated the Music Truro week, said: “We’re actively seeking feedback – if there’s anything people particularly liked and would enjoy seeing or hearing again. “Obviously we’d also like to hear about events that audiences believe didn’t work so well. “Work on organising a similar event next year will continue over the next 12 months so involvement from the community is incredibly helpful.” To offer your feedback on the Music Truro week, email BID manager Neil Scott on neil.scott@totallytruro.co.uk.
