New Night Spot For Truro
The nightlife scene in Truro as with the rest of the country has been dramatically changing over recent times. Consumer habits, wants and desires constantly evolve and no more is this true than the evident transition and draw to the top end of Truro, where there is soon to be even more reason why, that end of town is really where it’s at. Like birds migrating to warmer climates Zafiros end of town is really starting to heat up.
A sophisticated breath of fresh air to Truro’s club & bar circuit is soon to open.. ‘The Office’, situated in the old Eclipse nightclub building on the river walk, has over the past two months seen a rigorous refit and makeover by it’s new owners, with a complete transformation into a modern, stylish & exciting venue.
‘The Office’ is the new venture from the Cornish family behind Truro’s pioneering style bar ‘Zafiros’, with family being paramount to the driving force of this venture, as owner Mandy Hoare & her son Darren explains.. ‘Our aim is to stay true to our roots, as many generations of our family have lived in Cornwall and countless family members still reside in the Truro area. Truro has been very good to us with, job prospects, friends and plenty of memories. So we wanted to give back to Truro what it has given to us. We hope our customers will become our friends, offer plenty of job prospects to the hard working people in this little city. We also hope that after every night our new friends will come out thinking they’d had a great night and one to remember’.
The Office will have a refreshing over 21’s policy and its plush surroundings will provide a classy and comfortable setting appealing to a wide age bracket, a unique and important quality in the venues ethos, ‘We wanted this to be a place where adults could relax. Being an over 21 club means that a 30 year old wouldn’t be in there and feel out of place’, says Mandy.
An upmarket, ultra modern yet extremely warm interior with cosmopolitan touches in a similar vein to feeder bar ‘Zafiros’, has been carefully and passionately thought out by the family team, as Darren explains… ‘The Office has been designed solely by us, we didn’t need some expensive designer with flared shirt cuffs to tell us what we already like, so we decided to do it ourselves. Obtaining different ideas from the 5 family members, owners Roger & Mandy, managers Darren & Scott & budding architect Lauren the look has evolved from the dated purple it once was into a clean and simple design. Mixing contemporary furniture ideas, classic designs and new ideas the fusion we have created is something Cornwall hasn’t seen before but we feel is ready for’.
The crisp walls and ceilings of the clubs interior work with the dazzling array of subtle lighting which paints the pictures and can change the mood and vibe of the evening. The sensational new interior works in harmony with the charismatic building, with key structural features left in tact, in contrast to the custom made furniture and extensive amount of ultra cosy seating, as Darren says ‘You’ll walk through the door, and forget your in Truro’.
Further ideas which make it very female friendly are coin operated GHD hair straighteners in the ladies plush toilets. Also a new innovative vending machine where ladies can purchase affordable ballet pumps to wear home and a little carry bag for those agonising but necessary high heels. The Office will also be using a high tech VIP card system using swipe cards and digital photography. There are also further specialties to come but they don’t want to show their whole hand of cards just yet.
Another admirable quality is the planned music policy, which is very simply built upon a ‘fun night out’, nothing too serious, nothing too heavy just a feel good party soundtrack with no pretence, understanding the importance of letting your hair down and forgetting the problems of the working week. ‘The Office’ will be much more than the standard entertainment formula, with a captivating selection of Comedy nights, leading Live bands, and even Karaoke and quirky extras such as magicians. It’s all about variety, as everyone enjoys an added bit of spice to their nights out.
With the towns under 21s feeling like they’re missing out on what quite simply is set to become THE place to be, they will be happy to know, Wednesday’s will be student night, with special acts and celebrities line-up as well as close associations with the local colleges.
Yet another string to The Office bow, is its daytime potential and opportunities. As it lends itself perfectly as a diverse corporate venue. Having been heavily tailored to these needs throughout the design and planning process. The venue will be available for corporate hire, and special functions.
As Mandy & Darren summarise ‘The end of Truro where The Office & Zafiros are situated is fast becoming a buzzing area with new bars and hotspots-a-plenty, for customers with a bit more wisdom and a few more years under their belt, this is the way it is supposed to be. Saturday nights were always for adults, not the kids and this is what we are trying to bring back to Truro’.
