JUBILEE POOL
About meThe Jubilee Pool was opened in 1935 to mark the silver Jubilee of Geaorge V. Today it is one of the few remaining 1930's lidos in the Country. It measures 100 x 73 metres making it Britains largest surviving sea water lido! The Jubilee is open every summer from the end of May to early September, providing a fabulous venue for swimming, sunbathing or simply relaxing by the poolside. THere is a small 'baby' pool set within the main pool to provide an ideal environment for children to enjoy the water safely. The pool is run by Penwith District Council who provide fully qualified lifeguards. There is also a poolside cafe where you can enjoy freshly prepared food and home made cakes all day.The pool will be opening on Saturday May 23rd 2009 at 10.30am and the season will kick off with music, entertainment, stalls selling crafts, clothes, jewellery and cakes, a bbq. The opening day will finish with an Aquathlon in the late afternoon which concists of a 400m swim in the pool and a 2 mile run to Newlyn and back.
