The town has had several successful regeneration schemes aimed at regenerating the local economy in Penwith including; the ongoing Foundry Project which has seen the development of business and residential units in the hope of attracting employment in the area.

Hayle's position by the sea and its 3 miles of golden sandy beaches allowed it to develop as a holiday destination. Hayle still has much holiday accommodation particulary camping and self-catering. The sand dunes or towans at Gwithian and Godrevy favoured locations by many.
