Helston

Helston is a small town in the Kerrier district of Cornwalls, at the Northern end of The Lizard Peninsula and is the most Southerly town in the UK !!

The highlight of the year for Helston's community is 'Flora Day'  which take place in early May and is renowned for its dancing through the streets and partying throughout the day. If the traditional dancing isn't your thing then you might be better off congregating with the hundreds of others on the green surrounding the boating lake, which is overlooked by the mini fairground which comes to town.

 Helston is also home to Flambards Theme Park, which is probably the closest thing you'll get to Alton Towers in Cornwall. Formerly the Helston Aero Park, which is a theme park with a selection of rides together with a few remaining aviation exhibits. Keeping on the aviation subject, helston is also home to RNAS Culdrose which has its annual 'Air Day' in the summer months. Nearby Wendron is home to the Poldark Mine theme park, where visitors can go underground into the old workings.
